Sister Candasiri

Sister Candasiri was born in Scotland in 1947 and after a full and interesting life she decided, in 1979, to enter the monastic community at Chithurst under the guidance of Ajahn Sumedho. She has lived in community since then, mostly at either Chithurst or at Amaravati Buddhist monasteries. Currently, she lives in Scotland in a small hermitage that has been established for nuns. The teachings on suffering and its ending and the Buddha’s philosophy are what have inspired her along the trajectory of her life – and which continue to inspire her.
