A Great Need
Out
Of a great need
We are all holding hands
And climbing.
Not loving is a letting go.
Listen,
The terrain around here
Is
Far too
Dangerous
For
That.                    – Hafiz. c. 1320 to 1389, a mystic, Sufi poet from Persia.

The deepening ecological crisis is finally awakening the hard truth that we as human beings are part of this planet and, that we will rise and fall as one. The reality of our responsibility for causing- and now needing to tend to the crisis can be overwhelming; Especially as we continue relentlessly along the same trajectory because our societies are driven primarily by self-interest and consumerism. Feeling despair and fatigue – especially for those who have seen and been voicing their concerns for many years, is a natural fall-out of this crisis. However, despair and fatigue are paralyzing emotions. What we need is to reawaken to our interconnectedness with all beings and the planet as this compels us to compassion, and to honour and engage with the gift of life. With inspiration and compassion, we can play a part in the growing momentum of transforming apathy and despair into constructive action.

This retreat is an invitation to explore the practices and principals rooted in our inter-beingness that are embedded in Buddhist teachings so that this can guide and encourage us on this journey. It is an invitation to find nourishment and inspiration in nature, meditation and community. To not give into despair and to not let go.
