In today’s busy world, practicing mindfulness can be difficult. One way of bringing this practice ‘home’ is by being mindful through the preparation of food. This extends beyond the cooking process. It includes the growing or awareness of how food is grown. The avoidance of food waste – using as much as possible. And, in the final sharing of food with friends and family or, for your own nourishment and love.
This retreat will explore these sides to cooking and providing nourishment and teach you how, in preparing two delicious and nutritious meals, to be present in all stages of the cooking process. Each of you will be involved in preparing the food (and everyone will receive the recipes), and we will encourage you to use all your senses – not just taste. You will see the bubbles as your food cooks, smell the oils released from spices and hear the popping of mustard seeds. There will also be a masterclass on growing and using herbs to enhance the sensory experience of food.
Whether you are a beginner or an aficionado in the kitchen, this retreat is for you. We look forward to sharing this one-of-a-kind experience with you and welcoming you to realising yourself through realising food.
