Our tendency when faced with life’s unpredictability, losses and challenges is to resist the ways things are: to shut down, turn away or numb out-(in the countless ways we humans do!).

This retreat offers another, radical path- informed by Buddhism and Jungian psychology – to ‘welcome the unwelcome’, to turn toward and open to what is painful and difficult in ourselves, others and life.

With kind eyes, acceptance and patient awareness we will create a safe space to befriend ourselves just as we are, and explore ways to respond when we are lost, afraid, confused and vulnerable.

To support us will be a range of meditations, mindful image making (no art experience necessary); journaling, walking in nature, ritual, silence, embodied awareness practices, story-telling and poetry. Gently, yet powerfully, these practices will resource and strengthen us to navigate terrifying terrains, so we can live more fully awake, confidently and open-heartedly in our lives – just as they are.
